Akane Higurashi was well prepared for her mission with her mentor and former sensei, Daichi. The ruins that they were heading to were known to be dangerous, filled with exotic animals, and she had only found the need to visit the area once. The ruins, jutting crumbling works of stone, half collapsed stairs overtaken by the vegetation around, had seemed too good a place for bandits and missing nin to spend significant time in the area. She was not an idiot and didn't see the extra risk as necessary so far in her life.  The red head walked, keeping a decent pace with Daichi. The afternoon was still early, but the encroaching tree canopy was thick enough to make it appear duskan up ahead. It was a good thing, she thought, because the day had so far been painfully hot and the shade of the trees were likely to bring a temperature drop of about ten degrees.

She chose not to wear her white coat, for obvious reasons, sticking with the cropped red halter top. It flowed loosely over her skin as she moved, and she could feel the sheathed breast dagger hidden beneath it. On her right wrist was a perfectly prepared senbon launcher, ready to fire at need, the trigger already set. Akane carried her medical kit on her waist, on her left hip. And besides it she had also brought with her extra senbon. Akane had her hair completely up, though her bangs still brushed the sides of her face, and in the messy bun she had hidden several shuriken for emergency. Akane was not one to be surprised in a place like this.

Akane had no concerns over Daichi, he was always on target, and she was processing in her mind exactly how they would find and apprehend the thieves. She didn't know what they were capable of, not really. She considered her extensive genjutsu techniques and licked her lips, knowing they would be useful to her, but only if she had the time to make handsigns. "You know I don't plan a thing, and I know you aren't big on plans either. But do you have any ideas how to  go about and find them? I mean look at this place." And Akane was right, as they entered the enclave the thickness of forestation and the dangers of animals and hidden shinobi were not limited to the mission's original details.

Of course, like Akane, Daichi had been thinking about where they were heading and the mission that was laid out before them. There was at least three people that were in the forest somewhere, three that would be looking for Flame Shinobi that were after their heads and because of that, Daichi made sure he didn't have anything on him that outwardly said he was a Flame Shinobi. His crimson hair was about as unkempt as usual, while his attired showed the minimum amount of effort had been put into it. He wore a pair of black pants and a sleeveless shirt to match, with his gauntlets on his arms and the guild's cloak was covering the rest of his form. For the most part, Daichi wasn't really worried about the actual fight that was coming, it was more so about finding that fight first.

As if reading his mind, Akane would start to ask him about how he planned on finding them,"Well, the answer to your question is pretty simple, Akane." He said in a very 'matter-of-factly' tone of voice, a grin on his lips showing that it wasn't obvious at all and very much orthodox,"Once we find some fresh tracks, I am going to call out to them. And challenge them to a fight." He hoped that before that moment cam, an actual plan would come to mind and start to form at some point but if not that was the best thing he could go with. He was good at simple tracking, so if he could find some type of tracks left by them, he may actually be able to find them without needing to rely on simply luck. With his fingers crossed, as they entered the thicker part of the forested area, he hoped that he would be able to find them.

The red head watched her footing, careful to arch her leg a little higher so as to not trip on a random tree root sprouting up from the ground and back down several feet away. She kept up with Daichi, though made a face. His plan was straight forward, but somewhat incompetent considering they were more likely to be ambushed than to get a fair fight out of these guys. She thought about it, then opened her mouth and said so. "Fine, you be bait. Run in there like a crazy person. But in case you haven't noticed, I am not exactly ready for a sword fight here. I can use my hands in more ways than fists," She looked around the area and all around she saw signs of life. Tracks of a panther, that one she knew for sure. She saw the scat half buried in the leaves, knowing there were small useless rodents around. From above a bird soared, drawing her attention with a loud whistling cry, and in so doing she saw the hanging snake acting like a vine: a deadly trap. "I think I am going to hang back and be a bit more discreet. If you do get ambushed, I'll be able to help from behind. I have some new jutsu I want to practice out in the field anyway."

Akane didn't mention what she would do if she was ambushed instead, but that didn't worry her as much. She knew she didn't look like a threat compared to Daichi and so it was assumed that he would be the base of an ambush. Then again, there were likely more than one group of criminals out here. She tread lightly, starting to slow down, before finding a tree which appeared easy to climb. She took a deep breath and then jumped up to the first branch, starting to climb upwards. It was hard, but at least the air itself was cooler in the trees, and she was more afraid of things on the ground than of things in the air. She avoided grabbing a dark bark colored snake and shifted to a nearer branch, avoiding the dangers she knew were there and keeping her eyes open for the ones which might surprise her. Had Daichi continued onward,  she would give him a minute to get ahead enough to look alone, and then pounce from branch to branch behind him, keeping her eyes peeled for not just snakes and spiders, but possible trip wires or shinobi tags as well. She thought she saw a single shadowy figure once in her periphery, from a tree just a few feet away from her's, but when she stopped she saw nothing, not even a sign of movement. The forest had its way of using fear to manipulate its own shadows in her mind's eyes, she thought annoyedly.

Daichi had tried to resist making a comment as she moved to create a distance but he failed,"I'm sure you could use your hands for other things~" Of course she had fully retreated and he put a little bit more pep in his step to increase the distance between them, until it looked like he was walking around the forest alone. With a soft breath he would pull out his pack of smokes and, sadly, would find that this was the last one in this pack. With a grunt he pulled it out and would crumple the empty back up before shoving it into his pockets, using the lighter, that was also running low, to light the smoke and take a long drag. If he was lucky, the smell of the smoke would also end up catching their attention but even so he would walk casually through the forest until he slowly came to a clearing.

It wasn't all that large, from where he stepped it was only 20 feet until you reached more thick trees on the other side but in the middle of the opening was a campfire. He'd crouch down and feel the embers of the fire and how they were still wet, from being put out within the last hour or so. So it was a lead, hopefully it was also a lead on the right group of criminals but they would find out. From there it wasn't hard to find a trail, that he would start to follow. Maybe this wouldn't be so hard afterall.

Akane moved delicately over the branches, dashing from one to the next, keeping a steady distance between her and Daichi so that she could support him in the best possible way. Her senbon launcher was thoroughly prepared and she had been thinking of the various genjutsu which might come in handy here. The red head simply kept her pace and kept her eyes open trying to see anything unnatural.

Akio ran his thumb along the edge of his blade, glancing over his shoulder with a slight smirk. He could hear Daichi coming closer. From behind an enormous half broken column, he hid, crouched down and pressed his blade to the wire by his feet. He waited, patiently, knowing his partner would deliver the signal, probably with a flicker of light, to cut the wire. And when he did it would be quite grotesque an experience, hopefully startling enough to send whomever had gotten lost out here, far back to where they came from.

Chou had placed herself carefully ahead of Akio, back pressed to a thick tree covered in vines. When her eyes flicked back, she could see Daichi approaching, smoking it would seem. He followed the natural grooves of the grass covered, stone wrecked, root ensnaring pathway that was the least hindering. It was as she had predicted it would be, which meant the wire was perfectly placed. She poised her right hand at a slight angle, catching the light from above on the blade of a shuriken, and winking the light back to Akio, her partner. Once the wire was tripped, she would be able to make her next move swiftly, attacking in the second that it would take for the man approaching to come to terms with the confusion all around him.

With the hidden light used as a winking signal, Aiko snipped the wire by his feet. The sounds of rushing came through the canopy above and the sounds of whirring as wires set off other wires and his masterpiece came fully known. Six human bodies strung up with wire, gorey, some of them half eaten by animals, mouths agape, and eyes removed, dropped from the tree branches above and fell all around Daichi in a sudden whoosh of foul smelling corpses. The six dropped around in an array, at least one of them close enough to touch, and certainly all of them close enough to smell. The hope was Daichi would be startled, disgusted, and confused for a moment in order to by the attackers a chance to make another move.

While it wasn't to say that Daichi wasn't startled by the amount of corpses that would suddenly fall down around him, there were some gruesome things that he had seen in his times living on the streets. Even so, he'd stop taking a pull from his cigarette as the putrid smell of corpses would suddenly rush up in his nose. He coughed a few times as he would move to push past the bodies, making sure not to get any of the gore on his cloak or himself, while doing his best to keep his eyes open. "Oh that is so not cool..." He muttered out loud as he tried to get past the bodies.

Of course, there was no way that Akane wouldn't be caught off guard by the sight that Daichi would be surrounded in, there was a third party that would make an advance. She had seen a figure before and the small figure of a male would have appeared in the branch behind her the moment the corpse-trap was laid. The male was about the same height and size as Akane, pushing silently from his branch and onto hers, aiming to wrap both of his arms under hers and rip her off her feet and throw her towards the ground. It went without saying that the force was enough to bruise her and stun her, if she smacked into the ground, where the cloaked third man would stand on the branch she was just on instead.

Aiko would stay where he was, hidden. From a 10 m distance, still behind the broken column of rock and besides a crumbling set of three stairs, Aiko performed his two hand seals: Bird - Monkey. There was no need to shout out the name of his jutsu like some half crazed twelve year old on his first damn mission. Aiko was much more careful about using his jutsu, or else, what was the point? His Olfactory Demise genjutsu was just perfect for the moment, and he would not dare to mess it up. The pungent smell of rotting corpses was enough to be smelled from his own hiding point, why not use the smell to torture and distract the man who still came in his direction? Normal shinobi would have run away, suredly, or at least stopped. But this shinobi would continue, brushing between the 6 corpses, and for it he would feel an intense sensation of gagging and nausea. The roiling in his stomach would start on slow, but the odorous air would surely make him choke and gasp.

Aiko: Ninjutsu and Genjutsu: 200 chakra- 15 = 185

Chou would leap out from behind a tree, a mere 5 meters away, facing Daichi. She was about 10 meters or so away from Aiko, Daichi making up the corner of the right triangle he did not know he was standing in. She already held one shuriken in her hand and without any hesitance, she hurled it at Daichi. The shuriken wove with a slight spin, sliding smoothly past one hanging carcass and towards Daichi's neck, coming from his right. Her feet moved fast and she drew from her pocket another two shuriken as she moved to the side, hoping that any rebuttal Daichi might have made would be placed in obnoxious counter to a horrendous hanging half-eaten stiff. She was using the hanging bodies as a sort of cover.

Chou: Bukijutsu and Ninjutsu: 200 Chakra; 6-1 = 5 shuriken

Akane stopped on a branch, staring, her feet placed carefully to maintain balance. The sight before her blew her mind. Corpses obviously did not do such things and even from this distance she could tell they had been tortured, maimed, and then hung up as a scare tactic for whomever was hiding in the area. She bet it was the group who had stolen the scrolls. She lifted her right arm, taking aim with her senbon launcher at the brown haired woman who had burst out from behind a tree to go after Daichi in person. Akane licked her lips and just as her fingers moved to  hit the trigger at her wrist, her attention so absorbed on the scene ahead, huge arms wrapped around her chest from behind and tossed her over the side. Sure, her footing was good, but her attention was not behind her. She swore out loud, "Son of a bitch," realizing that the shadow she had seen was no mere imaginative figment. She wished she had better trusted her gut on that one.

As Akane fell downward, she looked directly up at the one who had thrown her, aiming her arm for him. Hardly anyone had seen a senbon launcher around these parts, she seemed to be the only flame shinobi with one, and she doubted the person above would expect so quick a counter. Her middle right finger brushed the trigger and in rapid succession a series of five senbon, like an automatic firing weapon, they shot from her launcher, aimed for the person above's chest. She fell quickly and in choosing to counter attack so swiftly instead of catch herself on the fall, her body crashed below into a large bramble. It tumbled, bouncing from the thorns and onto the hard rock platform, partially revealed under the over taking grass. She felt bruises all over for sure and an intense throbbing from one of her many scratches, a particularly deep cut sliced from her hip down the side of her leg. The cut stained her pants with blood, a length of three inches. She winced, knowing she would need to heal that, but also knowing it was nowhere near her artery. It helped being a medic sometimes.

Oh god, why? Daichi began to think as he walked past the corpses and the scent of them only seemed to increase heavily, soon overtaking even the scent of his cigarette until he was almost breathing in pieces of dead people in the air. Or that was how it felt as he moved past them and into the clearing, where he would fall to his knees for a moment gagging and spitting to the side until he would move to try and regain himself. While it was working, he caught the visage of the woman in the distance just barely in time to see the shuriken that was launched at him. Almost desperately Daichi would fall back onto his rear and bring both of his arms up to block the Shuriken, causing it to go upwards into the air and giving him enough time to get back onto his feet. While he staggered for a few steps, he would raise his hand and, much like the badass he liked to think he was, catch the shuriken that had been deflected.

Of course the smell of the bodies were bothering him and as he felt the bile starting to boil inside of his stomach, he pushed the feeling off to the side as far as he could, taking the time to start dashing towards the woman and making sure not to simply drop the shuriken that had been chucked at him since he had forgotten his own.

The man that had been tasked with fighting the woman, while the weakest of the trio, was no fool. That being said when Akane aimed her arm at him he was sure that a jutsu was going to come next, then no such thing happened. He barely caught sight of the incoming senbon as it flew threw the air, his arm almost not having the speed required to get in the path of the senbon. Three of the needles still found their way into his chest but his arm had stopped the two that would've hit his main vitals, though the blows he suffered was still enough to cause him to step backwards and fall out the tree he was in. He was bleeding from multiple wounds but even with that the man would land on the ground before pushing off of it with a quick motion, trying to still get a down Akane. Had she not risen to prepare herself, she'd only be further tackled to the ground where he would prepare to rain his fists down onto her.

Aiko lifted his head, the smell of the corpses not bothering him because he was the one to place the corpses in the trees to start with.Additionally, while the scent of rot and death was more intense than what most humans could ever smell, it was an illusion that neither he nor his partner Chou were hindered by. He stood up and stepped into the open space, channeling his chakra and preparing another attack. With the man focused on Chou, incoming and raging as always she seemed to be, Aiko was quiet and subtle. Though no longer hiding, he didn't draw attention to himself either. Tiger - Snake - Boar, his fingers moved in obvious fashion. He could tell Daichi had his attention elsewhere. Aiko inhaled deeply as his hands moved, releasing a  Wind Spear that could travel those ten meters in distance in just one second. A spear which certainly had the power to maim, being 2 meters tall and wide. Unless the man suddenly collapsed and lost his stomach from the smell induced in the genjutsu, Aiko believed that this fight was won.

Aiko: Ninjutsu and Genjutsu: 185-25 = 160

Chou had to admit she was impressed by the man's ability to dodge. She stopped in her tracks, though, in her periphery she spotted Aiko. And if Aiko was in sight, then he was don playing games. Had she time, the brown haired woman would have pouted. But instead she stood 4 meters from Daichi, staring blankly at him as he held her thrown shuriken. If it was over, it was over, and she was not going to get in the way of Aiko especially when he was in one of those moods.

Akane made hand seals as she started to get to her feet, huffing and wincing from all the bruises and cuts. She knew she had to have hit the man because she saw his shadow fall behind the tree not even 7 whole meters away from her own body. She made the seals quickly, one after the other, Hare - Dog - Rat, and using the sensation of the senbon in the man's arm and chest, she enacted her own genjutsu. It was a powerful and tricky one to dispel too, given that her Double Take Clones jutsu looked identical to a typical shadow clone jutsu. Two Akanes appeared, also getting to their feet besides her and all three smiled up at the approaching man. Then, all three red heads dashed in different directions away from the incoming attacker: one towards the tree, moving back into the branches, one away from the man in a perfect straight line before him, and the third ran heading towards Daichi's direction, though that being at least thirty meters from her original point. There was no way anyone else would see or believe the clones were real, or that the clones were clones, other than the man before her. And she knew, as long as her illusion stayed in her range, he would believe the clone was a shadow clone.

Honestly things hadn't really been going as far as he planned, seeing that in the time he went to start dashing at the woman then another wave of nausea would start to rush over him and he stumbled backwards. Thankfully the genjutsu that he didn't know he was under wouldn't have affected his ears, so as the wind jutsu flew through the air and threatened to maim Daichi, similar to how his body had thrown itself before, his left hand came up in an uppercut fashion. Had it been a blade that he struck, it would have been deflected with great force and the blow would've easily knocked a person out but instead his first came in contact with a jutsu and, seeing it was not a person in only the moment before he'd be struck, would obliterate the jutsu. The winds that the jutsu had been made up would explode upwards from his blow and disperse harmlessly, though he stumbled again and released a few more gagging noises.

It was a clear pain in the ass,"God, did you let the bodies sit out in the heat or something..." Daichi spoke outwardly to the people who had been trying to kill him but by dispersing the man's attack with ease he would show that there was more force and strength behind his figure than the wobbly, sick form of Daichi. The smells didn't get better with time and what was originally a dash towards the woman was now a walk towards the both of them. He'd keep both of them in his view, even as his stomach started to do full somersaults, making sure not to let his guard down any more than it already was.

There was nothing to tell the man that whatever he was seeing wasn't a genjutsu, except that she'd never preformed the seals for the clone technique but that was a fact that he hadn't even been able to notice from the pain he was feeling and worrying about not dying. As the three versions of the woman would move, he had a second to decide which of the three of them was his goal and he went for the woman that dashed directly towards Daichi. And soft grunt left his lips as two Kunai would be pulled from his pouches and launched directly at her back, aiming to thump into the clone's back hopefully and get rid of it. Or, if it was the real one, have her fall down and allow him to try to find the others,

Aiko inhaled sharply, catching his breath after his jutsu and staring wide eyed as the man deflected the wind spear. The wind spun upwards, cutting down several branches which proceeded to fall between Daichi and himself. And still he stared. To avoid the jutsu was one thing. To fight back with some sort of master jutsu was one thing. To punch the blade of wind and knock it away was something that Aiko had never fathomed possible and his gaping mouth showed that in the most un-eloquent of fashions. He had honestly believed that the fight was won and he had not prepared a second jutsu, not even in his mind. He was lucky the branches fell between them, turning and jumping behind the column once more as he deduced a secondary course of action, hoping that for Shinigami's sake there was a reason as to how that many could simply punch his wind spear away. At least, he thought, the smell was still around.

Though shocked, Chou was more shocked by Aiko's behavior. Aiko the dominant, the strong, the leader. Aiko the hiding behind a rock? It pissed her off and she clenched her fingers carefully around the shuriken in her hand. She was clear of the falling branches, still standing at a triangle like position, 4 meters from Daichi. And Chou was not afraid. She threw the two shuriken towards Daichi, aiming one for his side, and aiming the other for his chest. She needed her hands free to make a few hand seals anyway and with the weapons thrown that is what she prepared to do, though her eyes and feet were ready to move as needed.

Akane's clones were more real than regular clones, each dispersing 45 chakra each, and so even as an illusion they would not simply POOF away from a single strike. They had to be beaten. That being said, at about the eight meter mark two kunai found their way into a clone Akane's back and she went down with a loud cry. As blood pooled from her body, she groaned, as if still struggling to stay conscious. The other illusion clone had run away, at least for the moment. Akane herself had run for the tree, but seeing her enemy go for a clone made her pause before actually going up farther than a single low branch in the tree. She took the time to reload five senbon into her launcher and set the trigger, and then she opened her medical kit. She pulled out some of the gauze and tied it around the leg, trying to stem the flow of the deep cut. She pulled out the thorny twig first and then wrapped it tightly, her back to the tree. Let the man deal with her clones, her illusion, while she herself cared for her injuries. The illusion of the two other Akanes had seemed to escape, one into the tree, and one into the ruins, while the real Akane sat tending her wounds for a moment in the tree.

Daichi had enough of this game and the moment that the man had, instead of attacking again, decided to run than a part of Daichi would have been pissed as well. People's pride was so easily broken that even a simple action such as that would cause the man's plan to break apart and, that goddamn smell was really starting to affect Daichi even more as he willing had to fight to keep the bile from rising out of his stomach. Even as the weapon came flying at him, with a casual grace did he launch the one in his hand to deflect the one aimed for his heart while the same hand would smack away the other shuriken before it could strike against his skin. If Daichi did not have on his gauntlets then casually dismissing bladed objects would not have been all that possible, so it was a good thing that he had decided to wear them today. But his attention was on the man from before, assuming he had just turned behind the pillar like before.

Lightning exploded around Daichi's form as he would move forward in a blur, the effects of the Raiton no Yoroi that supplemented his body with strength would cause him to be able to fight on par with the Strongest of S-Ranked shinobi, Daichi overall becoming a S-Ranked shinobi while in this state. With an unfathomable anger from the smell and the way he was starting to feel, he'd roar almost as he would turn into a blur that would suddenly be crashing into the pillar he had moved behind and hopefully crashing into him. It wasn't beautiful in any means of the word and if no one had been watching, they could have thought Daichi had been thrown into the column the way he flew with so much recklessness. But even so, hopefully it would aim with the man stunned and sprawled out on the ground. Of course, Daichi would be stunned and being on his hands and knees. But he'd have been able to stop the man from escaping him this time, as well as entering this enhanced state.

No normal clone would have been able to put up as much as a show as her own clone had, even the strongest of clones being able to disperse upon receiving seemingly fatal blows. The fact that nothing happened when they were struck caused him to believe he had found the real Akane, having no need to actually go chasing after the clones. It would probably go to show the damaged clone would put up no real fight, seeing as he would tear a kunai from her back and, unless otherwise stopped, he would slit the throat of the clone without even a second's thought. If the genjutsu continued and it still didn't disperse, he'd fully think that he had killed the real Akane and therefore there'd be no reason to go after the clones. Of course, if the body dispersed like a normal clone's body, then his attention would immediately be turned to the trees. Otherwise, after finishing the clone off, he'd move towards where the other two had been ganging up on Daichi.

The man had put his hands together, just starting to make his way through a string of seals, when the whole ancient column collapsed around him. He cried out, falling to his stomach, the stones pinning him down by his legs and back. He struggled, and cried out in pain, Aiko's ribs cracked at the least underneath. He coughed and blood sprayed from his lips. He looked up at Daichi, anger in his eyes, matching the anger in Daichi's own. His free arms were spread before him, unharmed and he grabbed at a piece of broken stone, hurling it with as much strength as he could muster up towards Daichi's head. The smell of rotting flesh was thick, so thick Daichi might have been able to taste it for a moment, like a mucus coating his nasal cavity, his lungs, his mouth. But the smell was strange now too, smelling not just of rotted flesh, but of strange bitterness... like the smell of curdled milk, souring, distasteful suredly, enough still to bother the hardest man's stomach. But was it enough to be believed?

Aiko: 160 - 15 = 145

Chou's anger was redirected when she saw the pillar come down. Aiko, her leader, her friend. As much as he could be an ass, they were usually partners. Chou placed her hands together and made seals, gritting her teeth. She had seen that the man could deflect projectiles and jutsu, but she had to do something fast. With the lightning shrouding him, she doubted she could get close enough to land a single hit, so a jutsu was her only hope. From her exhaled breath, Chou expelled a Wind Spear, identical to the one that Aiko had sent to hit him. Two by two meters tall and wide, and moving across the 10m distance in 1 single second. She dashed forward immediately after, her hands still together, ready for making another.

Chou: 200- 25 = 175

Akane's genjutsu worked to mimic shadow clones, so slashing the throat was the last straw and the clone poofed away with a lingering cry of pain. There were two other Akanes to chase down, her real self, and the illusory clone who had run off. She was closer to the man and so Akane knew she would be next. Sure enough, he turned his head in her direction. She was glad to have finished caring for herself. The red head would be properly able to fight now. No surprise attacks, no sneaky business, well besides her genjutsu still lingering in effect. She hopped down from the tree, and made a come hither motion with her index finger. Then she put her hands together, preparing for her second to last move, a real game changer in her eyes. It didn't hurt that at that moment her illusory clone came into view, having returned and making the same exact motion, calling out to him, "Can't you tell who is the damned clone? Or are you just afraid to fight the real me?" Oh and her voice sounded so real too. The clone grinning as widely and as amusedly as the real Akane would have done were she not hoping that the man would go for the clone first. Either way, both Akanes stood poised with fingers melding together as if about to start a string of seals.

Akane: 135 - 10 for upkeep of two posts = 125

Like Daichi had said before, he had been reaching his end when it came to that fucking smell and the people that had gone out of their way to put those damn corpses up in the first place! With an anger he normally didn't show, anger that only increased when the rock struck his head and split it, causing blood to run down his face and nearly into his eye,"Goddammit!" The man shouted in near outrage before lightning exploded specifically around his right hand and three of his fingers were pressed together, his thumb and pinkie hiding against his palm as he called on his person creation called the Hell Stab.

The move could cut through anything, easily cleaving the man down the center of his body, from his forehead down to between his legs like it was nothing. The pillar and anything else in his way would suffer the same fate but it was truly a shame because the jutsu she launched to try and save her teacher would have missed him as he dove forward in an almost animalistic nature to end the life of the man that angered him. He had no idea the man was the one behind the plot to set up the bodies but the moment that the man was dead, hopefully it'd be safe to assume that the smell of bodies would decrease as well.

Whether it had or not though, the man had nearly roared again with the Three Finger Nukite still on his finger as he would look at the woman and dart forward towards her.

It was clear that the man was starting to have a hard time understanding just what was what, though it was clear that he had been tricked by the clone and one of the two in front of him was the real Akane. Drawing the last two of his Kunai he would dash forward swiftly, throwing the two Kunai at the person that happened to be the real akane while rushing the fake one. His combo was simple enough as he got close, his right hand shot out to try and dive into her throat, striking it with enough force to cause her to gag. His left hand followed quickly and would've smacked into her face until a barrage between his left and right hands would come against her face and chest until she was pressed against a tree, each blow smacking her head roughly and almost violently into the three behind her.

Aiko perished without even a scream, dying so swiftly his limbs twitched, the nerves trying to send the signal of pain to the detached and severed system. His blood pooled in a thick and congealed manner, the jutsu half cauterizing, half cooking his flesh. The genjutsu was gone and so was the Olfactory Demise placed on Daichi. The smell of death and carrion was still in the air, but no more would it cause Daichi to gag. Though in Daichi's state of mind it was unlikely anyway that he would be swayed from his course of action.

Desperate, Chou cried out. She saw Daichi bend and obliterate both rock and flesh with only three fingers. Her Wind Spear soared behind him, slicing the place where he had been, decimating the set of the stairs where he had stood. She finished another set of seals, firing a second and a third Wind Spear directly for Daichi, one to the area where he originated, and one aimed to the place directly in front of her. She hoped it would dissuade him and save her life. The brown haired woman took several steps, back, the Wind Spear soaring through the hanging bodies, dropping half the bodies, in various pieces and parts, to the ground with heavy thumps, praying that they would reach Daichi one way or the other. Chou didn't like how Daichi turned to her when he finished. She was not yet ready for death, and in her fear, she found no place to grieve for her fallen comrade.

Chou: 175- 25 = 150

As the attacker bled from his six wounds, Akane side stepped the two kunai with relative ease. She used that moment to spare herself a proud smile. The man was falling for her trap. Using the sight of her own self, and finishing her string of seals Boar - Dog - Boar, Akane unleashed a second genjutsu. This man was helplessly trapped and he didn't even know it. The Distorted Obstruction caused an enormous wall of stone to appear around the man and her illusory clone. In this moment, several things would happen. First, her clone would react to the attack of the man, clawing at her neck and his hands while crying out in pain, pushed towards the tree. The clone kicked out a little, to make the struggle seem really real. And then the genjutsu of the curved stone wall would appear to envelope them both. Her clone, even in the dark, didn't miss a beat, panicking and crying out in confusion, "What's going on!?" The stone wall appeared normal, felt real, like an Earth based jutsu that was also not unheard of. It was dark inside, and the walls would feel thick and unbreakable.

Akane was just getting started however. With the man carefully bound to two genjutsu, she had him right where she wanted him in order to finish him off safely. Unless the man was able to react in a way that broke both genjutsu, he was going to be fighting against that wall or trying to kill her clone. Akane was confident in her abilities and took up an easy walking pace to make her way to the man before her, trapped in her illusions, having no idea just where the real Akane was about to strike from. Poised for death, Akane licked her lips, lifting her right arm slightly in preparation.

Even as the Genjutsu had started to clear up, it had done little to settle the anger that he had about being played with a bunch of corpses. If anything, as the smells started to clear up with the death of the man, he was even more angry under the idea that it was actually a genjutsu that he had been placed under. He didn't really give the idea of running towards the woman much thought, even as she would have come to launch the same technique as before at him but it didn't matter because he would bring his Hell Stab'd hand up towards the attack and slice through the wind blades... Well, it didn't happen exactly like that, actually as the two techniques collided, while it did part the wind blades, it also canceled out his own technique. It was an annoying thing to happen but there wasn't anything to do, except continuing moving forward, even as the remaining wind blade would have come across his body and created several gashes on his arm and one on his chest, splitting his clothing.

But even bleeding he would literally collide with the woman until they would become a tumbling pile of mess across the ground. As they happened, he would be rolling until he was on top of her, pinned beneath him. What would follow next was nothing close to pretty but instead of pulling out another jutsu, he would start to rain down his enhanced fists onto her face over and over until she would no longer be alive. As shown, Daichi had no problem hitting a girl.

-------

Was there anything but anger that the man could feel as he finally got the one Akane where he wanted, and then he found himself suddenly being surrounded by an earthen dome and he wanted to start screaming. He almost did as he stepped backwards, stopping his blows on the woman for a moment, to see that he really was trapped behind this wall. And as he confirmed it, he would then scream and move towards the clone, exclaiming that if she was the real one then it'd all be over if he just killed her. If the clone hadn't moved around much since the darkness took them and he stepped away, then the man would dive forward and place his hands around her throat, hoping to pin her against the tree until the life would escape from her eyes. If this was the real one then he'd be safe from this haven and be able to join his companions, and that was all he wanted. All he wanted to do was feel the woman in his hands give her final breath.

Chou watched in horror as the man ran straight through her jutsu. Shirt ripped, body bleeding, and still his anger drove him to continue. She stepped back quickly, and then began to turn, ready to run. But her eyes were frozen in their fear, trapped on the three fingers he held, wondering what it felt like to get split in half so fast. She heard screaming, but it took a minute for her to realize it was her own: she had not been able to run very far, her wide eyes trapped on Daichi's incoming raging form. He knocked her to the ground and breathless she looked up to him. She struggled and rolled them both over in an attempt to escape, but he was stronger and rolled back on top. She felt one of her arms pinned under his leg and the other hung over her face, trying to stop the blows from coming. Hit after hit rained down and Chou could feel the blood burning her eyes, she choked on the blood, she felt broken teeth on her tongue. Her jaw cracked under the pressure and before she could scream, she thought she was passing out. Only to find that instead of unconsciousness, her body found solace in death.

Akane's clone whimpered and rolled, trying to back up, trying to escape. Though the clone in fact knew just what she was doing. She was giving him the sounds he needed to find her in the dark of the false earth dome. The man pounced on her, feeling the blood pumping through her neck, and pinching it off with his strong grip. As the clone wavered, unable to maintain itself, Akane herself had positioned herself in front of the man. The woman held her wrist up, senbon launcher set, and pressed her knuckles downward, just a single inch from the man's forehead and eyes. When she flicked her middle finger over the trigger, a series of five senbon shot out at breakneck speed and the man trapped, strangling an invisible nonexistant clone, would have no time to feel pain. The senbon would enter his forehead, piercing his skull, thrusting through his eyes and into his brain. It would be a faster death than she assumed he deserved, but Akane liked efficiency where her chakra usage was concerned. Assuming the man would die, falling over at her feet, Akane would break her genjutsu to save on chakra. Then she would bend down and start pulling out the 10 senbon still inside of the bleeding corpse. She also didn't like to waste money.

There was no denying that Daichi was bleeding to a fair extent from the wounds that had crashed around his body and one could wonder why he didn't try and use his cloak, though obviously the answer had been the anger that he had felt. But when he hands finished striking the woman's face and he found her dead, the lightning that had been around was gone and he was breathing heavily as he rested on the woman's corpse. His hands started to pat along her form as he tried to find the scroll, anything that was left of them even, since that was a part of their mission. But as he started to searched her form he felt a headache crash down on his form, causing him to see stars for a few moments, causing him to roll over onto his back. Raising the arm that wasn't covered in wounds, he would press a palm against his forehead and let out a groan. The concoction of events that he had been put through in such a small amount of time actually made him tired, the blood loss definitely was not helping either and the debuffs from his lightning armor settled in, weakening him all around by a whole rank. He would live, there was no question about it, but it definitely hurt to live right now. He would settle on laying on the ground next to the woman who was dead, waiting for Akane to catch up to him. Did he think she was dead or injured? Maybe injured, but there was no way that someone was going to take her life, not today. Hell, even Daichi was glad she was on his side, preferring not to think what would happen if he was on the wrong side of her.

--------

As nice as it felt to kill the woman a second time, there was nothing but horror that came over the man as she died and it had been nothing but a clone. But before that fear could turn into anything else, his life ended. His hands slowly raised towards his head, as though he was still alive, though it wasn't even a whole second later he fell over into a pool of his own blood. He was dead, and if searched, would not have the scroll either.

Akane did search the dead body for the scroll, and upon finding nothing, she kicked it hard with her foot. It was a waste of time and chakra to fight the man when he didn't even have one scroll, never mind a second. She gave herself a moment to check the red gauze at her leg, noting that the bleeding had slowed but not stopped. She needed to save her chakra as she had no idea what she was walking into when she would find Daichi. She ground her teeth and worked through her own pain, channeling it as motivation to find Daichi swiftly.

And she did, not only knowing where he had gone but having smelled the bodies and the blood from a distance away. She hoped it would not draw any scavenger out here in the rainforest. She looked around but only saw bloody bodies, corpses, and suddenly she caught sight of him: he lay on his back besides a clearly dead female form. She couldn't tell if he was alive, but her hands already moved Rat - Tiger - Dog, using her Infernal Lens jutsu to be able to see into Daichi's form, even as she still made her way towards his body. With her free hands she shielded her eyes as best as she could, her pupils dilating until she appeared to have solid black eyes. She knelt down next to Daichi, throwing herself to her knees in a swift motion as her eyes took in his injuries. His arms were brutally sliced up, but not very deep cuts. Most of his torso was cut but deeper, through the muscle, and she could see that one of the muscles was actually leaking blood from an artery and into his lungs from a slice through his collarbone area. If he wasn't coughing blood yet, he would be in a moment, even if she healed him, she couldn't remove all traces instantly of such damage without spending time on it. She sighed, getting the assessment, cancelling out her jutsu and adjusting her eyes to the light.

"I swear to Shinigami if you move and die because of this, I am going to be so mad. You'll be fine, just stay still." The worry present in her voice told Daichi this was the worst wound she had seen, but she was more worried for herself than him. Her chakra was lower than she usually allowed it to be. She hoped she had enough, her brow already sweating from the effort and her chest heaving as she maintained as steady a breath as she could. The red head formed more hand signs, this time Hare - Bird, the Cure External Wounds jutsu. It drained her so fast she actually cried out, and she moved her hands over his body, first his torso. After several moments, the shallowest of wounds would close up, healed, while the deeper wounds would look and feel more like shallow wounds. Akane's face turned red from the effort, and her hands shook slightly, "I-I got this. I got you." She didn't know where the scroll was but all she knew was Daichi's body needed to heal and stop bleeding. Even her own leg was far away in her mind.

As Daichi had been laying on the ground, he had lost time of how much time had been passing by. In all reality, it hadn't been nearly as much as it had felt like, seeing as when he opened his eyes again he would find an almost similar sight as before. But now Akane was there and she was talking to him and even though it was hard to hear it, he definitely heard her when she told him not to move, thought he wanted to immediately protest. As she started to heal his form, his eyes slipped closed again and he let out a soft breath. He would let the woman continue to do as she wanted, seeing that stopping her would be pointless on several levels. He softly grunted as he would feel the wounds that covered his form slowly disappearing, though if he could have spoken with his dried out mouth, he would have probably said something smart-ass like. But for now he would let her continue her healing process, not ungrateful but regretting that he had gotten as injured as he did. This should have been a simple routine and instead it turned into something like this. What a pain..

Akane grimaced and panted as she continued her jutsu onward. Soon all of his injuries were healed, no blood inside, and the only blood outside was the congealing dried blood he had lost. She had fixed his torn muscles, most of them only surface level cuts along his torso. He was lucky deep muscles were just so deep and hard to hit. She wiped the sweat from her brow and panted, looking him over. He was going to stay sore, his mind remembering pain, but at least his body would be okay. That was the best part of going on a mission with a medic, she thought with a taste of bitterness. She forgot to save more chakra for the aftermath.

Akane pulled back from him, still kneeling. Her lunge for the ground had made her own wound worse, but she didn't have the chakra to spend on her own self. She pulled off her bloodied gauze and looked in her med kit in order to pull out a second strip. She tied it over her leg and tightened it. She was good at what she did and she was sure that she too would be fine. Disinfecting her cut needed to come sooner than later, but she was physically and mentally worn from so much chakra usage.

"There was no scroll on that guy, did you find one on her?" The red head asked her mentor, falling to her side. Her body appreciated the rest, her eyes starting to close as she exhaled. She prayed no wildlife would come lurking out now.

Even as his wounds would close up, there was no denying the amount of soreness that was overtaking his body and he was beginning to feel tire. Of course, his fatigue would pass shortly but that didn't matter at this point, as he would slowly sit up and look over at Akane,"You should have taken care of yourself first, I would have been fine." But even despite his words, he was not ungrateful that she had decided to run up on him instead, healing the wounds he had foolishly gotten. The man raised a hand as she wrapped her wound, rubbing the bridge of his nose as he would finally move to stand up and gather his balance. As he looked towards the sky and saw it darkening, he would let out a soft breath and move over to Akane, easily aiming to scoop the woman up into his arms. He wouldn't really give her a chance to argue as he would take the time to look around above them, for a particularly thick patch of greenery before bending his knees and launching himself upwards.

They would move through the air until they'd be in the cover of the trees, Daichi moving until he would come to several branches that he could comfortably rest on. He would take a seat and from where they were, it was more than easy to see the leftover remains of the battlefield and what was beneath,"There is a chance that the scents will scare animals away, but it could also bring some. We will be safer up here, you need some rest." Of course, if Akane looked around, there'd be no where exactly for her to sit and as Daichi got comfortable and rested, he'd comment,"I know this isn't exactly the best situation or position to be in, but we don't really have a choice." He'd have to remember to bring some camping gear with him next time, since this had ended up taking longer than he planned.

Akane didn't have the energy to be annoyed with him for avoiding her question about locating the scroll. With all of his injuries healed, Daichi would be tired but not incapable of standing and fighting if need be. The knowledge was a relief to Akane who knew she had pushed herself much too far. As he lifted her into his arms, she closed her eyes again, thinking back to an old memory of the time he had found her on the street four years ago.

She had been stealing goods to stay alive and survive, stealing money from people in the square. She usually could run away when she was caught, but the last time it happened, she had been outnumbered and cornered. The men she had stolen from were criminals in a local gang who thought to teach the 20 year old rail thin girl a lesson. They beat her until she was nearly unconscious and stole her money and jewelry. When she was right on the brink, lying in the dank alleyway, a man smelling of alcohol, a strong man who must have been returning from a night of revelry passed her by. She recalled the first sensation she had being one of fear, but as the man scooped her up in his arms, and spoke to her with a gentleness in his voice, she remembered only the feeling of relief. And that same man, Daichi brought relief to her now as he lifted her up and leapt into the canopy above.

The Midori forest was dangerous, and usually blood would have brought out predators, but the amount of blood and the stench of the corpses not far away dissuaded most wildlife from entering the area, taking it more as a warning than a welcoming midnight snack. Hours passed, eight or nine, and still Akane slept. She was wrapped in Daichi's arms, unaware of him resting, unaware if he had also fallen asleep in the trees. The 24 year old slowly healed back her chakra and the blood on her leg slowly congealed and began a natural healing process.

While he could have probably used some type of sleep, he didn't end up getting any himself, so while that had left him a little more groggy than he wanted, he would still be able to function normally. As much as he would have liked for Akane to have kept sleeping, she would slowly feel herself being shook awake by the man that she had been sleeping on. As she would come to, she would faintly hear noises beneath them but most importantly, Daichi speaking into her ear,"You need to stay quiet, Akane." He'd softly command her as she would probably be wiping her sleep away still, but if she had started to look around, she would find the source of noises to be a total of three men.

They had found the bodies and had been looking around the area,"They've been here for almost an hour, looking. They haven't come close to us yet but I'm thinking, they may have the scrolls..." He had time to think about this over the last hour, plus he had listened in on their conversation and picked up bits and pieces,"Supposedly there is a base nearby and the guys we fought had just been on their way to another job... What shit luck for them." But that didn't really matter for much, since they had been their original targets, it didn't help that had they waited in their hideout a bit longer they may have lived. Regardless of such thoughts, he would continue to talk to her in a hushed tone,"I tried to let you sleep as much as you could, but it seems like they plan on leaving soon, and it'll be easier to stay quiet with us both awake."

It was easy for Akane to slip her sleepy thoughts back into shinobi mode. She was silent, sitting up carefully and moving on the branch like a monkey, arms pulling and sliding her forward so that the shorter female could see what Daichi could see without moving. She saw the three men below and considered the number of shinobi there might be in the hideout. It seemed almost too dangerous, but then, if there was a hideout nearby it was likely a dead end. It might give Daichi and her both the advantage to attack, considering the dim lighting, it was just barely dawn.

As a faint and eerie grey light flooded through the canopy, the dark figures below moved around and she looked back to Daichi. The red head crawled back to nearly his lap and uttered softly, "I agree. Let's follow them, and find the scroll." The woman waited a moment more watching below and seeing the men turning and moving away. Once out of sight, she noted their direction in her mind and she concentrated the chakra in her feet to silently walk down the trunk of the tree and stand at the base of the massive tree, waiting for Daichi to come down and join her. Her ears and eyes were alert and already her mind was processing and considering the options for genjutsu which might contain a group of missing nin and criminals long enough to allow Daichi to obliterate them all.
